Every winter, Prism Energy Services encourages employees to donate to charity, and for the past several years, we have been committed to donating to one great charitable cause. In 2014, we were committed to donating to the New England Animal Shelter because one of our employees picked up a new kitten from this shelter, and we wanted to show our support. We all agreed helping animals in need is a great cause, but we felt we could still do more. So, for the first time ever, we donated to two charities, and we raised more money than any of our previous charity drives. In total, we donated $320.00 to Building Homes for Heroes and $330.00 to the New England Animal Rescue.
Since we saw such great passion from our employees in helping donate to these two wonderful causes, we thought we would take our charitable giving to a new level. This year, we are committed to a year-long charity drive. During each quarter of the year, we will engage in a different charity event. During the first quarter, which runs from January to March, Prism will donate canned/non-perishable goods to food banks across Massachusetts.
- In January, we collected 113 cans and boxed goods, and we have donated them to the Boston Greater Food Bank.
- In February, we will donate to the Cambridge Senior Center Food Pantry on Mass Ave.
- In March, we will donate to the Worcester Salvation Army
Our goal is to raise at least 500 cans by the end of March. For the next three quarters of the year, we plan to commit to a walk/run in Q2, a coat drive in Q3, and then conduct our annual charity donation drive in Q4. We’ll provide more updates on our progress each month.
For all of our hard work and effort to help donate, we feel it’s important to get something back. During this canned food drive campaign, we’ve instituted a tiered reward system. The more cans we all bring in, the better party we’ll throw for our employees!
- Under 300 cans – Potluck for effort
- Over 300 cans – Pizza and game day
- Over 400 cans – Red Sox home opener party
- Over 500 (our main goal) – Dave & Buster’s Night Out (or equivalent)
