In a recent article published in the Boston Business Journal, Boston is named as one of the cities leading the way towards energy efficiency in the field of lighting. With several Boston-based companies leading the way towards lighting innovation and energy efficiency solutions, including Digital Lumens and ByteLight, and with the Commonwealth urging utility companies to make Massachusetts residents and business owners more energy efficient, it is no surprise that Boston, once again, is setting an example for the rest of the country.

In a recent article published by Digital Lumens, Ace Hardware—a company we’re all familiar with—has upgraded its 1,000,000 sq. ft. Rocklin, CA facility to the Digital Lumens Intelligent LED Lighting System. Since its implementation in October 2013, Ace has “. . . saved an average of 81% on its lighting-related energy use.” The article mentions, “By replacing the facility’s 1,653 fixtures (1,551 T5 fluorescent and 102 metal halide), Ace Hardware has reduced its power usage per square foot by 39.56%, while improving light quality and illumination levels throughout the facility.” Reid Barney, facilities and loss prevention manager for Ace Hardware, notes that with higher light quality, the company has seen “. . . enhanced productivity and employee satisfaction — all while saving massive amounts of energy.”

Prism is excited Ace Hardware is taking the next step towards energy conservation. Prism has also been implementing energy efficiency saving upgrades for Ace Hardware this year, helping it reduce its energy consumption while improving its lighting quality and employee satisfaction in some of its Massachusetts locations.
