Cree has announced the Great American Bulb Swap—a green, energy efficiency campaign to help people save energy on their electricity bill. Cree will let people swap one of their compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL) for one of Cree’s new products, the 4Flow LED. People will be able to choose from a 60- or 40-watt soft white bulb, or a 60- or 40-watt daylight bulb. Best of all, the new bulb has the look and feel of a traditional incandescent.
Earlier in the year, we discussed the different color rending indexes of LED bulbs, which allow LEDs to come in a warm yellow, daylight white, or cool blue color. Whether you’re looking for a new reading light, or a light to warm up the living room, the 4Flow LED will be a great fit for your home or business.
LEDs can last up to 22 years (with the light turned on an average of 4 hours per day), which means they could still stay strong after you’ve started a family and sent your kids off to college. Not only do they last much longer than traditional incandescent and CFL bulbs, they help save a lot of energy and money.
In an earlier blog post, we simplified the life span and cost savings of LEDs, CFLs, and incandescent bulbs and concluded CFLs provide the best energy efficiency for your dollar. But, if you eliminate the cost to purchase the product, LEDs are the clear winner. It’s almost winter, and the days aren’t getting any longer. Make sure you get the most out of your lights while reducing your electricity bill. Get your free Cree 4Flow LED this upcoming weekend.
